Kristen's Adventures

I am venturing out into the real world by moving across the country where I know virtually no one. There are ups and downs and I am always busy (which is the way I like it!). Most young people only move out into the "real world" because they have to once their college kicks them out (aka "Graduation"). I am not sure if I fit into that category or not. At least I wasn't kicking and screaming on the way out like some people!

My Weekend

Well, my weekend didn't exactly start out that great actually... I had a little too close of a relationship with a bottle of wine and ended up missing Friday evening. Enough said about that! But on Saturday, eventually, Will and I went out and wandered about and it was lovely. We went to Barnes and Noble and worked on some stuff in the cafe, much like we did in Walla Walla last spring at Coffee Perk. Ahhh, I love cafes. And I love books, too, so Barnes and Noble is perfect. So relaxing. Then, since it was a nice evening, we decided to walk instead of take the Metro. And then, since we had nothing else we had to do, and some time until the movie started, we walked from Clarendon to Georgetown, which is nothing amazing, but was a nice 45 minute stroll. We saw Walk the Line, the movie about Johnny Cash. I enjoyed it very much. Will must like it since it was his 2nd time seeing it. Oh, speaking of movies, I saw Memoirs of a Geisha last week with Wendy from work, who also goes to U Maryland. It was intense, and I unfortunately can't remember how much of it was true to the book since I read it about 4 1/2 years ago. I suppose it doesn't really matter anyway.

What else... Well, classes were fine on Thursday. They are starting out fairly slowly and gently, which for once is not what I would prefer since I am kind of bored and wanting to jump into this whole grad school thing. It makes me nervous to know that there will be lots of work in the future, but without being able to start tackling any of it now. I kind of want homework!! I got one assignment and have already finished it. I am sure that before too long I will be back to normal, wishing for time and not wanting homework, but for now, that is not the case. Perhaps I will pick up a small job if I continue having extra time.

My Mom and Elroy are officially visiting in March! I am excited to show them my new little world here!

The weather here is amazing right now. I think the high today is around 62. I ran by Arlington cemetary, across the Memorial bridge, past the Lincoln Memorial, and down the mall to the Capitol, where I visited Will at work! That was fun. Since it is such a beautiful day, many people were out running and smiling and it was very pleasant.
